At the Joseph & Elizabeth Shaw Public Library, every visit is an adventure. Our Children's Department is designed to inspire curiosity, encourage a love of reading, and provide opportunities for children to learn, create, and grow. From story times and reading challenges to special events and hands-on activities, we offer programs that help children build literacy skills while having fun along the way.

PAWS for Reading

Join us for stories, songs, movement, and interactive activities designed to help young children develop early literacy skills in a fun and welcoming environment.

It's never too early to start reading! Children from birth through kindergarten can participate in this exciting reading challenge. Track your progress, celebrate milestones, and earn prizes along the way.

Reading is even more fun with a furry friend. Children can practice reading aloud to one of our certified therapy dogs in a relaxed, encouraging environment that helps build confidence and reading skills.

Summer Reading Program

Every summer, readers of all ages are invited to join our Summer Reading Program. Read books, attend events, complete activities, and earn prizes while discovering new stories and adventures.
